Although we do not have any on our work sites, commercial or office premises, large quantities of hazardous chemicals are either stored or in use. It needs to be understood the quantity is not the important factor, in applying these regulations, but more so that the chemicals that are in use could be hazardous to health.

Contract cleaners are peripatetic workers and are often overlooked on COSHH assessments, and yet they often have to use hazardous cleaning materials. Power Cleaning Group, as an employer of cleaning staff, has endeavoured to make sure they know how to use cleaning materials safely.

It needs to be understood that the occupiers of buildings also need to take the activities of cleaners into account in their own COSHH assessment and have information on the cleaning materials being used on the premises. Making sure that cleaners know how to use cleaning chemicals safely not only protects them, but also others who may quite easily be affected. Information, training, communications and instructions play an important role in ensuring that people are not exposed to hazardous substances.

Power Cleaning Group takes its responsibilities seriously when it comes to meeting the requirements of these COSHH regulations.

All Managers at Power Cleaning Group have been involved in health and safety training with special emphasis on the COSHH regulations and the need to train, instruct and communicate the safe use of chemicals in use to all staff.

The responsibility for keeping training records is that of the Training Manager.

The Company’s Chief Health and Safety Advisor is the Group’s appointed person to meet the requirements of these regulations.
